There are different forms and levels of intuition, each associated with the polar aspects of our mind, both of which also operate in-sync with each other. Probably the biggest difference between the two is that the common form which most talk about as knowing something is going to happen just moments before it happens, is a function of our lower, instinctual mind (subconscious), whereas higher forms of intuition which is a function of our higher mind, also includes prophecy, premonition, and communication from our Higher Self . . .
